I work across three roles that keep answering the same question: what happens to an industry when the technology underneath it changes?
As a researcher, my doctorate at the University of Surrey examined blockchain-based sharing economy platforms in tourism and hospitality — user acceptance, consumer behaviour, and what decentralisation actually does to intermediaries like Airbnb. Muslim-friendly and halal tourism runs through the work, as does Islamic finance.
As a lecturer, I teach Islamic banking and Islamic economics, and supervise students working at the same intersection of finance, technology and travel.
As a banker, I lead macroeconomic and financial-markets research at PT Bank Syariah Indonesia — multi-horizon forecasting for the policy rate, USD/IDR, the SBN yield curve, inflation and financing growth, plus the scenario design and stress testing that sit underneath enterprise risk assumptions.
Running underneath all three is automation. I designed and built the bank's multi-agent AI research platform end to end, from the schema-intelligence database to production scheduling — applied machine learning put to work rather than demonstrated.
